What are the upcoming 7 seater cars in India 2021
After being seriously struck by the Covid-19 in the first half of 2020, the Indian automotive industry is on its way to fully recover in the second half. This is evident as the total sales tally has been picking up tremendously in many segments. Besides, the market also welcomed a series of newly-launched models, including 7-seater ones. Apart from the super-duper roomy interior and convenience, the 7-seater is also emerging as an effective means to adapt to the “new normal” that resulted from the pandemic.
Considering the easily spreading nature of the pandemic, it is significant to maintain social distancing. While commuting on public transport makes it difficult to keep a distance and avoid infected surfaces, especially during peak times, a private and spacious vehicle like a 7-seater is an ideal choice to help one and his or her family stay safe and minimize the risks of exposure to the virus. Here, we list out the three most-awaited upcoming 7 seater cars in India in 2021.
1. Hyundai Creta 7 seater
Expected Launch: Q2, 2021
Expected price: Rs. 12 lakh - Rs. 18 lakh
Being one of the top cars in the SUV segment, the popular Hyundai Creta is said to heat up the Indian automotive market with its brand new 7-seat version spied with heavy modifications in its design and structure. The most significant tweaks on the new Creta 7 seater that set it apart from its 5-seater cousin include the revised rear styling and a fresh chrome-studded front grille. Moreover, the upcoming Hyundai 7-seater SUV is also likely to get a flatter roof to add a bit of premium-ness to the model.
Under the hood, the 2021 Hyundai Creta is expected to be available with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. While these units are likely to be mated to a 6-speed MT as standard, some of them will also get a choice of a CVT or 7-speed DCT.
Priced between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 18 lakh (estimated), the new 7-seater Hyundai Creta will take on the likes of the upcoming Tata Gravitas and the MG Hector Plus if launched in the second half of 2021.
2. Tata Gravitas
Expected Launch: April 2021
Expected price: Rs. 20 lakh
The Tata Gravitas is among one of the long-awaited upcoming 7-seater cars in India. Showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2020, the new Tata SUV seems to be heavily based on its sibling, the Harrier SUV. On the outside, both SUVs look identical to one another except for the length and the height. In particular, the new 7-seater Gravitas will be 63mm longer and 80 mm taller than the current Harrier. It is also likely to get some subtle style tweaks regarding the alloy wheels and the color palettes.
Performance-wise, the Tata Gravitas will be powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine as seen on the lately-launched Harrier. The diesel unit will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Tata Gravitas was planned to enter the SUV segment during the 2020 festive season. However, its launch is currently delayed to April 2021 due to the adverse effects of the pandemic. Expected to be launched at a premium of Rs. 20 lakh, the forthcoming Tata Gravitas is likely to rival the MG Hector Plus, the new-gen Mahindra XUV500, and the new 7-seater Hyundai Creta SUV.
3. Mahindra XUV500
Expected Launch: March 2021
Expected price: Rs. 9.50 lakh
Joining the list of the most-anticipated 7-seater cars in India comes the upcoming XUV500 from the Mahindra family. While the new-generation XUV500 appears to be identical to the Tivoli’s X100 and the XUV300 subcompact SUV, Mahindra will also provide the upcoming SUV some minor cosmetic changes to give it a fresher and sharper look. For example, the upcoming Mahindra SUV will bring in an upright nose and flatter door panels. Inside the cabin, the new-gen XUV500 is expected to employ a 3-row layout as seen in the current model along with a plethora of newly-added features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a new panoramic sunroof.
Talking about the powertrain, the Mahindra XUV500 is likely to get a brand-new BS6-compliant 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel unit mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. Slated to enter the Indian market by March 2021, the XUV500 SUV will compete against the aforementioned Tata Gravitas, the MG Gloster, and the 7-seater Hyundai Creta, which is expected to enter the Indian market in the first half of 2021.
That concludes our complete list of upcoming 7-seater cars in India in 2021. Considering the current situation, it is expected that the 7-seater segment will become even more popular in the near future. Do you even agree? Let us know in the comment below!
