Update: List of Upcoming SUV cars Under 10 Lakhs in 2021

In recent years, the Indian automotive industry has witnessed a massive liking for the SUV body style. To stay ahead of this new trend, many car manufacturers have added SUVs to their manufacturing portfolio. While the segment has been mostly dominated by Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, and the Tata Nexon, the arrivals of new models from many other brands have further intensified the competition. This article will name all the newcomers in the list of upcoming SUV cars under 10 lakhs in India by 2021.

1. Mahindra XUV500 2021

Expected launch: March 2021

Expected price: Rs 9.50 lakh

One of the top OEMs in the Indian SUV segment, Mahindra will launch the second-generation version of the XUV500 by early 2021. Largely based on the Tivoli’s X100 and the XUV300, the upcoming Mahindra model is expected to come with some mild tweaks. While the key features are likely to be unchanged, the most noticeable cosmetic updates that set the second-gen XUV500 apart will be the upright nose and flatter door panels. 

Inside, the new-gen XUV500 will continue to sport a well-equipped cabin as seen on the current model. Besides, the Korean automaker will also offer the upcoming SUV a plethora of newly-added features and comforts, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, the XUV500 2021 is expected to be powered by an upgraded BS6-compliant 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel unit paired with a 6-speed AT or AT. Set to be launched by March 2021, the upcoming Mahindra SUV will be priced at an estimated Rs 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and closely compete with the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, and MG Hector.

2. Renault Kiger

Expected launch: March 2021

Expected price: Rs 5.50 lakh

The next candidate in the list of upcoming SUV cars under 10 lakhs in India is the first-ever sub-4-meter SUV from Renault. Rumored to be called the Renault Kiger, the upcoming vehicle will be heavily influenced by its sibling, the Nissan Magnite. Essentially, both SUVs are likely to share the same design with an iconic front grille, sleek headlamps, DRLs, a set of tremendous 19-inch alloy wheels, and the C-shaped LED tail lamps. Moreover, the French automaker is likely to provide the Kiger with the signature Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform. Altogether, the upcoming Renault SUV is expected to come with a bold and stylish look.

Talking about the interior, while the feature list of the Kiger remains unknown, it is likely to bring in a well-equipped cabin as seen in the Nissan Magnite.

Performance-wise, the upcoming sub-4 meter SUV will only be available in a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol unit that can churn out 96BHP of power and 160Nm of torque. Meanwhile, it will also come paired with a 6-speed manual and a CVT. The Renault Kiger is expected to arrive in March 2021 at an estimated Rs 5.50 lakh. If launched, it will take on the likes of the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
